The week here is back-loaded. 84% of the dated events on this page fall on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday, so planning around a weekend gets you several times the choice a Tuesday does. Weeknights are not empty — they are where the recurring things live: open mics, run clubs, book clubs and language meets that keep a fixed evening whether or not anything bigger is on. Those are also the easiest to walk into alone, because turning up by yourself is the norm rather than the exception.

Where things happen
Goa's event map is a lot narrower than the city is. Most of what gets announced clusters into a handful of rooms: right now the busiest are Hammerzz Makarena: Goa (3 coming up), The Leela club (3 coming up) and Savara: Goa (2 coming up). By neighbourhood it concentrates in Morjim — which is where to look first if you are deciding what part of town to be in. Institutional venues carry the talks, theatre and exhibitions; cafes, studios and bookshops carry the open mics, workshops and small gigs, and those move around far more.

Goa's events live on Instagram — a venue or a collective posts a poster, sometimes a fortnight out and sometimes the night before, and if you do not already follow that account you never hear about it.
